Born and raised in Faro, our local guide João Batarda, an enthusiast of history and etymology, is the number one fan of the city where he was born. He graduated in cooking from the prestigious Algarve School of Hospitality and Tourism, the field he chose to pursue. Following his dream of working abroad, he embarked on an adventure that led him to exchange Portugal for Luxembourg, where he spent 7 years perfecting his cooking technique and developing a certain respect and love for the subtlety of French cuisine.

What do we do?

We are a company providing guided tours with private chefs, delighting the sights and palates of our clients since 2019.

As the company name suggests, we explore!

And yes, we don't just stop at the city's main monuments, because we show the authentic side of the city, that less "touristy" neighborhood, that off-the-beaten-path route, as if that weren't enough! We love sharing what it means to be from Faro.

Our goal is to entertain the customer while teaching them the many stories of Faro and its origins.

How It All Began

Whenever he could, in his free time João traveled and explored! These were his favorite pastimes, until the day he met the loves of his life on a trip to Lisbon: Ape Calessino and Daniela, who became his current wife and co-founder of CityXplorer.

Thus, they founded their own company, promising a better future!
