Varied Lessons (Surfaventura)

Matosinhos beach, with its extensive sandy area and the protection of the Leixões north breakwater, offers excellent conditions for practicing and teaching surfing, bodyboarding, and stand-up paddleboarding safely. The vast majority of our lessons are given here. There are also good spots for skateboarding nearby. The school team also travels to other neighboring beaches to find better surfing conditions when the waves here are too small.

The Lessons

The lessons, in all modalities, have an essentially practical aspect. Right from the first lesson, you will put on a neoprene suit and, in the case of surfing, learn to catch waves and balance on the board, aiming to become a real surfer! Count on the help of an experienced and passionate instructor who will always be there to help you.

It doesn't matter if you've never practiced any of these sports before, because our instructors, with the help of appropriate equipment, adapt the lessons to the abilities and performance of each student, leading them to progress safely in a relaxed environment!

For the lesson, you should bring: a towel, flip-flops, and a swimsuit. For boys, a swimming suit or a tight-fitting type is preferable, as it's more comfortable to wear under a wetsuit.

Lesson Schedule

We are open year-round, both weekdays and weekends and holidays. We usually open at 9:30 am and close around sunset, which varies between 8 pm in the summer and 6 pm in the winter. We are also open at lunchtime. We close on days with very adverse weather conditions. We are closed on holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, New Year's Eve (January 1st), and St. John's Day (June 24th).

Lesson prices

Prices include:

• Experienced instructor(s).
• All necessary equipment, such as wetsuits, surfboards, bodyboards, stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), fins, skateboards and protective gear.
• Access to the school facilities, with lockers, bathroom and direct access to the beach sand.
• All necessary licenses (Portuguese Surf Federation, Tourist Entertainment License, local Port Authority).
• Mandatory insurance by law (Civil Liability and Personal Accidents - policy 85.00022781 Mútua dos Pescadores. Civil Liability: 50,000.00€ / Death or permanent disability: 600,000.00€ / Treatment and repatriation expenses: 105,000.00€).
